The Destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah

  1. The Bible is replete with statements about God smiting, slaying, destroying, etc. Thus, it has been generally assumed, and actually taught, that God actively hurts, kills and destroys.

  2. 1.But these assumptions and beliefs are being challenged today. In recent years, in fulfillment of Bible prophecy, more and more attention has been focused on God, His character, and His dealings with His creatures. See e.g. John 17: 3; Jer. 9: 23, 24; 1 Cor. 15: 34; Hos. 6: 3; Eph. 3: 17-19; Rev. 14: 6, 7; Isa. 40: 9.
